3 Myths About Hypnosis
Yes, hypnosis does work. Everyone can be hypnotized, though some are more challenging than others.
Though I have always been interested in hypnosis, since I was 4 and I was supposed to get blood gasses and the Navy Corpsmen said he could hypnotize me and I wouldn’t feel it… Yeah, I didn’t believe it then, or even at 4 I was too analytical to accept the suggestions. I am resistant to hypnosis, but that doesn’t mean I, or others, can’t be hypnotized. This is one of the myths. You should know more about hypnosis because you’re being influenced by suggestions daily. What do you need to know?
There is no doubt it works. Many will say it works only on some. Perhaps. Semantics and degrees. The evidence would be anyone who has had surgery without anesthetics. That convinced me. Seeing a person have a C-Section with no medication, and just enthusiastically sang through the procedure.
Would I undergo the knife just to prove it to myself? No. In fact, I would argue the degree to which I resist the process is the very process that makes it work or don’t work. My son has zero problems going to the dentist, where I suffer tremendously. You can take my blood and give me injections, while my best friend faints just watching them take my blood as if it was…
