I suppose this essay is straightforward. The benefactors of secrets would remain the ‘Usual Suspects.’ Unpacking it, though, suggests a level of control that amplifies conspiracy theories and distrust of governments. Listening to the Professor speaking to Psicoactivo is quite alarming if you hadn’t considered the points referenced therein. For example, the oil companies are actually rich enough to be the heroes in the human saga, as they have the wealth and technological prowess to move humanity away from fossil fuel tech. They don’t do it because they would lose control. Environmental concerns, real or perceived, is their philosophical mechanism to squeeze every ounce of profit, as your fear keeps you in your place. Will oil benefit from alien technology? Who benefits from knowing it’s aliens?
