Love and Aliens
Love is Life. Everything I understand, I understand because of love. Everything is, everything exists, only because I love. Everything is united by it alone. Love is God, and to die means that I, a particle of love, shall return to the general and eternal source. -Leo Tolstoy
I thought I would start this with love. Why not? Is love universal? Is it an attribute limited to humans alone? I believe there is evidence for love in nature. I believe there is evidence that humans fail to love, in a myriad of ways, but often their failures are linked to ideas of love.

The Brooking Report suggested humans would likely respond with fear should they learn of aliens. What if fear was evidence for love? What if fear was connected to love! Humans have had a special place, in this cradled existence we call life. How many of us humans have reported the arrival of a new sibling resulted in family discord! There is now a competition for parental attention. There is suddenly a need to share.
I dare say, humans do not have a sharing problem. Some of us do, but quite frankly- you don’t have 8 plus billion people on a planet with no ability to share and play nice with others. The ‘ones’ hoarding wealth likely have the greatest struggles with trust.
The existence of aliens will necessitate a new level of love and sharing. Our lives will change. That fear response is a realization that I must change, but more- that I have liked my life as it was to greater degree and fear is evidence that I don’t want my life to change. Acceptance has always been the final threshold to the five stages of grief. Could humanity be there? Is this the last gate? Some of us still have more denial, anger, fighting, and negotiating to do, but for the most part- aren’t we as a whole ready to accept the idea, ‘we’re not alone?’
The Universe doesn’t necessarily operate to satisfy human beings, but when human beings are in harmony with universal principles, we tend to report greater levels of life satisfaction.
