Are there aliens? Do aliens have souls? If humans are not humans, but instead are souls having human experience- can’t we say there are only souls in this universe, and all vehicles are simply avatars? Does incarnation in a human body make me human, or am I still an alien soul trying to figure out what it means to be human?
My family have always joked that I was an alien. I am not of this family. I was switched at birth. I, too, have frequently wondered- how the heck did I get here?! Even my church thought I was an alien, because I would vehemently argue with them. When I was told about the second coming that I would be reborn into this body, I was repulsed.
“Do I have to?” I asked. What? “I don’t like this body. I don’t want it.” You will have this body. “But I don’t want it. Can I have another?” What do you mean another? “What do you mean by what do I mean. I don’t want this body.” Whose body do you want? “I don’t know, Spock’s? Captain Kirk?” You need to stop watching Star Trek. “I don’t want this body. Can I just a be spirit without a body?” They didn’t have a response to the objections, so they went for a distraction, and I just accepted this was a sign I should shut up.
