Reincarnation and Mental Health
Gender Dysphoria is a DSM V category describing a person’s biologically defined gender not aligning with the mental/emotional identity. Though human gender and orientation is likely more complicated than society can appreciate, from the perspective of a consciousness first paradigm where souls have choices in body assignments before incarnating, gender dysphoria may not only be more common than we suspect, but might open pathways for greater compassions for those struggling to relate to self or others.
I have often wondered if my gay friends were the opposite gender in a past life. Of course, one doesn’t just ask this. Usually. Most of my friends are not open to past lives in general, much less discussing gender or orientation. There is huge bias in this subject where most people assume what they feel in terms of sexuality and libido is what all people feel. Even when we’re in alignment, what one person likes may not be enjoyable to the partner or others, and still we are reluctant to ask for our needs to be met or how we might meet the needs of others. This is a necessary conversation, but one we are reluctant to engage.
