Can You ‘See’ Without Eyes
If perception is the ability to deciper signal, then signals can be created to alter perception.
Humans Can Learn to ‘Echolocate’ in Just 10 Weeks, Experiment Shows, by CARLY CASSELLA, 20 JUNE 2022 discusses a human sense ability that almost anyone can learn to do- ‘see’ using sound. This is not a new thing. I have known it about for a moment, when I first read about Daniel Kish who had ability tested, followed by a methodology that could be taught to others. One researcher taught her son who could see with eyes to also see with his ears.
Daniel Kiesh refers to it as a type of bat sonar, in which he uses sound to see. Literally his brain is interpreting sound and constructing 3d images of the world in his visual center of his brain. He issues clicks with his tongue, and the auditory signatures reflecting off surfaces around him gives return signals that enable him to ‘see’ better than human sight in some ways, as he appears to have a more robust sense of distance and object solidity than seeing people. The latter might be explained by the fact in developing that sense he had more learning experience than those with seeing capability.
