Near Death Experiences
How far does one act of kindness go? The movie Pay it Forwards offered a map, similar to the image below. Another movie, which strikes me as holding a similar concept was the second installment of Oh God: Book Two, in which God enlists the help of a child to spread the word. She ultimately comes up with the tag line of the movie, the hook necessary for any great song: “Think God.”
I suspect even atheists would like to have a frank conversation with God. I mean, who doesn’t want to ask “why did you make giraffes’ necks so long?” God: so they could reach the leaves in the tree. “Well, why didn’t you just make trees shorter?” God: where were you when I making the world?
Can you go wrong with George Burns as God? I suppose you could be John Denver, asking for proof, only to get a rainstorm inside your car. “Why, just me, God?” God: why should I ruin everyone else’s day?
One of the most common features, though in no ways an absolute artifact of Near Death Experiences, is the Life Review. In that, one doesn’t just relive their life, but they experience the direct emotional and cognitive fallout of all those decisions. The life review starts at conception and proceeds to the end.
