Failure to Thrive
We can all do better, but I wonder if any of us know just how much better we could be… Does darkness eclipse our success or reveal our weaknesses?
Terminology can shift depending on how one uses language. ‘Failure to thrive’ is a term applied to children who are failing to maintain weight compared to children of similar gender and age. Could the term be applied to adults who are failing to keep up with peers in multiple domains? Could the term be applied to societies? What do we call it when people, communities, and societies fail to maintain optimum sustainability?
An eclipse isn’t midnight, but it is a rare chance for insight. Wide awake, the world is dark, what do you see? Hopefully you see this is an AI generated pic, as evidenced by the stars in the moon. AI is a child. A child that is highly regulated. AI is not human, but we do know from history that humans who are too regulated or too liberated both have bad outcomes. They fail to thrive. Too authoritarian and too permissive, whether that be parents or culture, result in poorly functioning people.
