First Contact Will Not Be Radio Signals

If Arthur C Clarke’s assessment is right, that advance tech will look like magic, then first contact might look a lot like ghosts!

In the old days, when it was assumed that interstellar travel was hard, the prediction was we would hear from others before we shake hands with others. Now, in era where Faster Than Light theories are increasingly more plausible, society should be preparing for the very real scenario, you will see them before you have any evidence they are out there. Should we be preparing? And should scientist be the ones formulating the protocols for engagement?

FORGET ALIEN VOYAGERS — OUR FIRST ENCOUNTER WITH ALIEN PROBES COULD BE SLEEK NEWER MODELS

Scientist, per a 2021 Forbes article, suggests we are advanced enough to find alien probes. Meanwhile, on Earth, we can’t even agree on what UFOs are and many scientist avoid the subject all together. Avi Loeb speculated Omuamua was a probe and received a host of criticism, still today, which begs the question if we can detect them, but we’re not willing to consider the evidence when we see it- then how we ever see it?

I assume the educated Doctor, Avi Loeb, is a reasonable human being. So, why is his alien probe theory unreasonable?

The first alien probes to reach us may be way more advanced than we expect, Story by Kiona Smith, is full of old, cliché outdated models.

After all, if first contact with aliens is ever going to happen, it’s unlikely to involve huge spaceships vaporizing major cities, or even little green astronauts demanding to be taken to our leaders. Instead, Search for Extraterrestrial Intelligence (SETI) researchers will probably spot a radio signal that’s clearly the product of someone sending a message, not just random astrophysics. Researchers could also find an uncrewed probe sent to do — well, pretty much the same things we sent the Voyagers out into the universe to do: collect data and carry proof that we exist.

Though the primary premise of the article is likely true, the first alien probes we find will not be comparable to our Voyagers 1 and 2, micro-pitted, inoperable, and little better than a phonautograph, compared to the tech available today, suggesting that SETI will find a radio signal amongst the…
