Hello. I would love to use your name in this greeting, because your criticism is well written, and surprisingly balanced- a reflection that you actually read it. That you read, and that you engaged thoughtfully, creates a real dialogue. I think that is the most important opportunity here in writing on Medium that other platforms in our past have not offered.
Yeah, the time delay on things and responding, I think I have encountered that. Is there ever a time in responding that response is invalidated because of how old the artifact is? Regardless of time, our reaction response is still valid. Two years from now, your criticism may even have more validity- if nothing in the environment on this subject changes. Also, in an unintended vein on time, nothing I present will be 'new' as I am digesting information and thinking about it through a 'john-filter' hoping to make sense of this from my own perspective. I would love nothing more than to give you that something you need to embrace my humble theory, even if it is simply conjecture. (not just my theory, and more and more people with credentials are saying this- and it would be ill advised to dismiss all the credentialed people...)
That said, I would argue the number of alternative 'rational' explanations are dwindling in face of the the evidence, supported by government agencies saying this is real and a problem, which Congress agrees with or they wouldn't be creating a permanent office to address this. What do they know? I don't know! I want to know. It could be another pathway to fleecing the taxpayers- but wouldn't that be a conspiracy argument? Can we ever trust our leaders as being reasonably honest?
And adding the modifier 'rational' to alternative explanations suggest an alien theory isn't rational. It should be on the table. Many of the explanations that I see bantered, like holographic technology- makes sense if UFOs started occurring in 2004- but they have been with us since at least World War II in the form of Foo Fighters. Well documented. So, did we have holographic tech back then? Anti-conspiracy theorist say the governments can't keep secrets that long- so, is that tech more plausible?
and if we include medieval art that had UFO like artifacts, is that taking the phenomena back to the 14 and 15 hundreds? The Romans reported flying shields? We can take this phenomena back to 2,000 years?
I am open to a answers. What if we, humans, have the ability to time travel, and we have had it since World War II, as evidence in the ghost story the Philadelphia experiment, and we have holograph drones that have been sent back in time to capture important historic events, or attempt to change history, as in the book Pastwatch: Redemption of Christopher Columbus, by Orson Scott Card. Would human explanation really be easier and less problematic than aliens?
Maybe humans are too reactionary, too diversified, and too likely to be extreme in philosophical overlays- as evidence by radical disparity in politics. Maybe coming at humans sideways, slowly, subtly is the only way to get used to the idea that we're not alone. Using 'spirit guide' as an analog, what if we are never alone and we just think we make decisions uninfluenced- there's evidence for that, whether that be subconscious mind or Jung's archetypes, but giving up this idea that we're completely independent agents is really a difficult thing to do because it just goes against our everyday experience. Maybe we don't have the knowledge to describe what it actually is- maybe aliens isn't even close- but it will be in the grappling of this paradigm that progress will be had.
I am grateful for your response.
