I am hopeful for this, but I don't know how to gauge predictive timelines.

Sometimes in the 90s, there was a Times article about genetic research advancing to the point most diseases would be cured, and longevity would be increased to over a hundred with average health of a 50 year old. Where is this stuff?

My grandfather's Popular Mechanics had flying cars on the cover back in the 50s! Where is my flying car? I think there were even fusion generators, antigravity machines, and space habitats so luxurious it made 2001 spinning wheel look like hamster habitat.

Did we invent these things, but someone bought them up and suppressed, like those rumors of cars that a hundred miles to the gallon stories? I don't want to believe that. Clearly we're advancing... We will have fusion... Why does it seem to be taking so long when this seems like something humanity clearly needs?
