I had an atheist friend in JR High, first year of high school. Dear friend, and I would harass him about changing that- back then I was a bible thumping thug. And I asked him, probably leadingly, does God have a sense of humor.

He said, "It's not something to joke about." I laughed well enough I didn't follow up with whatever I had. I also knew, as my friend had much better boundaries than I, and explicitly explained if I continued to attempt to convert him, our friendship would end. I valued the friendship more than the pressure to convert.

God, angels, have to have a sense of humor. They made me... That's probably old, too. There is this one bit of prose out there that even had my ex-wife laughing- and there was truth that we both knew- divorce was coming... Man having a conversation in the afterlife with God, and God revealing a truth, "yeah, she is secretly missing you less than she's pretending..."

Or as much as I might wished to be missed? It was funny. It softened this thing I hold... Nothing makes me laugh more than God and nature versus human. Did you ever read "They Shoot Canoes, Don't They?" Don't ever read a Patrick McManus book during church services. This pearl was hard earned.
