I told one of my many therapist, 'I'm not the problem, it's my batshit crazy family.' I guess I was lucky, because he knew my family and agreed, they were batshit crazy, even used profanity when referring to them, which helped establish immediate rapport, "But, you're here with me, so let's talk about you..."

I wish I could tell you when I arrived. Even after arrival, I can only say I inched forwards only enough to know I have room still to grow, but after realizing I was inexplicably happy, not just one day but a string of days, I returned to counseling and essentially said, "I don't know what this is but I would like to know so I can maintain it." That person said, oh, you got this. Have you considered becoming a therapist?

Two years later, I had a masters and started my internship.

So, Amy, you so got this! Have you considered becoming a therapist? Pay isn't always so good, you don't get CEUs for continuing your own therapy, other therapist refuse to treat you cause you know too much and you have too much 'resistance,' to their clever mantras, and you discover that they, too, became therapists to treat their own families and or the themselves or both. You will know the wisest ones by the fact they gave up on family and focused on self.

You might find it more enjoyable, and therapeutic even, to just keep writing on Medium. :) You got this, too!
