I usually distinguish between pain and harm. A dentist may hurt me, but the intent is not harm. Birthing pains are not harm, it's just change. I do agree with you on the implied sentiment here, which, coincides with Job- a time to sew, a time to reap, a time together stones, a time to fight, a time to lay down arms...
wisdom is knowing what time it is. In laying down arms, that doesn't mean the fight is over. Sometimes laying down arms and taking licks, as Gandhi did, is the very thing that brings about the greatest change. That, too, is inherent in Job. The devil punished him, but Job didn’t denounce God. He could not fight the devil. He suffered with as much dignity he could channel.
You're a good soul. I wish I knew what time it was. Cue the Chicago song, 'does anyone really know what time it is...'
