I work in mental health. Every day I have someone in office that hallucinates. there are more things that result in hallucinations than schizophrenia, as you likely know. I forget the doctor that did the ted talk, but he gave percentage of populations up to 80 percent if you include people coming into and out of sleep.
There is unexplored featured to hallucinations. Carl Jung used activate imagination to intentionally induce hallucinations. For him it was not a brain malfunction. If you read the Red Book, he took it as evidence of a spiritual paradigm.
Prior to 2016, I have never hallucinated. I took up a practice of tulpamancy, and since I have had auditory, visual, and tactile hallucinations. I am still functional, and I might argue more functional in terms of improved emotional mental health since I started this practice. People who meditate can also have experiences.
I look forwards to reading these essays. I hope you will link them. You might like examining my essay on personality.
