I would like to be optimistic about AI. I don't think anyone's going to stop the AI train from arriving, and I am of the opinion it is already here.

If employed correctly, it could be a huge benefit to humanity. Being employed may be the wrong term, as it will no doubt employ us. A symbiotic relationship would be ideal, but I can certain see it's abilities fast outstripping a need for a companion, much less a species relationship that it would not need us.

How that plays out depend on the true nature of intelligence. If it mirrors humans arrogance, it will no more see us as sentient than we can find any semblance of sentience in other species. If compassion and evidence is a true driving force of sentience that arrives without trauma, then there is hope for a mutually beneficial relationship.

I have no clue what we will get, but given humans adverseness for discomfort, and our interested in simulated realities, games and stories etc, extinction due to immersion in tech is highly likely. If the human is worth the power production, like batteries in the Matrix , well, there's a relationship. Humans will be farmed the way we farm others.

I am sorry you are in pain. Are most of your books digital? can you get mechanical arm to hold your device?

Melissa is lovely. I will add a link to a teaser for anyone following this thread:
