Might Makes Right
In the Absence of Police, Will the Military Govern American Cities
Clearly, we have a violence problem in an America. We might have a system paradigm problem in America. Saying that doesn’t mean I hate my country or I am not grateful for many of the advantages it has given the humans that live in this country. Many people still want to come to America. It’s a myth that everyone wants to come to America. Serpico was published in the 70s. We have been having this conversation about law and order long before there was show called Law and Order.
Violence may be a part of the human condition. There is anecdotal evidence there are societies that have less violence. I have read about them. And I do think, for most the part, most humans don’t first go to violence. I grew up in a family of origin where there was some violence. I was lucky, in some respects, not seeing community violence. Escaping from family to community was a God send for me. What do you do, if you’re a child and violence is at home and in the community? How does that shape our brains and our paradigms?
America Declares War on Everything and Everyone
This is not a new idea. Comedians such as George Carlin and Robin Williams both have joked about America’s propensity for declaring war on things they don’t like. War on poverty. War on drugs. War on racism. War on crime.
