UFOs and Aliens
60 Minutes, Australia, did an episode on UFOs in Feb 2022. It mirrors the May 2021 US 60 Minutes episode. It adds some new faces. There is really very little new here, except maybe more comments from Ryan Graves, US Navy Pilot. Greg Eghigian, professor from Pennsylvania State University who is ‘researching’ the history of UFOs, makes a few interesting statements. The language in the program is sometimes dramatic, sometimes seemingly wrong. For example, Liz Hayes, the host of Under Investigation clearly states UFOs being “A decade old fascination.” Maybe I misheard her? Did she say “A decades old fascination?” Because this goes back way further than 10 years. It’s been around since the 1950s! That seems to be a point that both the 60 Minutes episodes, and the New York Times has avoided completely. If they’re willing to acknowledge the government is serious about UFOs, can journalist start being serious about unpacking the entire history of it?
