Isn't this the most fabulous subject to ponder. Some may see your subject as a metaphor, but did you know, split brain studies have shown this very thing to be true? The right hemisphere has a radically different personality from the left. so, just going with the evidence from that there is 2 characters- but could we also say the unconscious mind is a person in its own right? So, there's three people! Some say the heart has its own brain, there's four. Some people say the stomach has its own brain, I know mine speaks to me a lot... There's five? :)
