It seems to me, just writing this and putting in a medium that allows others to hear another human being is one way to find a friend. Loneliness is a serious problem, with predictions of it being the number one health crisis in the world, per the WHO. Writing this is an act of bravery. Someone responding probably read this and was able to relate. At the time I am writing this, 82 people have responded to this? They, too, are impacted by this thing you're grappling with.

I write about, too. We as humans need emotional and intellectual reciprocity of interaction. You mentioned reciprocity, too. You're worried you have nothing to offer? I think we all do. We are so fixated on being perfectly independent, the idea of a friend almost makes us sound 'needy.' Who wants that label. So, we suffer in silence. Or write profound, existential prose on 'a friend that might take me to the airport.' Someone to hold my hand on my death bed. Someone who might say one nice thing about me when I am gone.

Yeah. What you said.
