It’s Not About Work, It’s About Relationships

There are some people who seem surprised about people quitting work in droves. Quitting comes to my mind everyday, but I am not quite there yet. I even love what I do, and who I work with, and I want to quit. My son’s skating coach gets 45 dollars for 20 minutes worth of training. I don’t get 45 an hour! And I have a masters and license and I work in mental health. Quitting is coming. There is a reduction of staff, but more work, and no increase in pay. The thing is, people will do some really awful jobs if they feel appreciated. The number one reason people get angry, they don’t feel heard.

Work is not about work, it’s about relationships. There is the employer employee relationship. There is the employee client relationships. The system is antiquated and broken. In many sense of the word, most relationships in this modern world are broken. Fewer people commit to long term relationships. Loneliness is epidemic. Companies stopped caring about their employees when they ran out of pensions and gold watches. I don’t care much they push 401Ks as being the better option, that was was a fucking shell game. The banks use it to buy properties and they will collect their rent even when the market empties out my 401K. Do I have to say fuck you corporations before you hear me?
