Today, it is my hope to inspire as I have been inspired. I suppose you might imagine, I as a professional counselor, would do quite a bit of inspiring, but quite frankly- it is I am who am being schooled with every encounter. Every person who arrives before me, in my office or not, brings with them such awe-inspiring stories that I am frequently brought to tears. I am reminded daily I have had life way too easy and still have much to learn.

One thing I find consistently true for most people is that the ability to recover is within themselves; the counselor’s job is to illuminate that. The hero’s journey is born in circumstance. Sure, when we first find Dorothy, or Luke Skywalker, they are already orphaned into situations, but that, too is part of the journey. That’s our part, the person outside looking in, asking questions- ‘how did you come to be in this development?’

The story I am about to share comes with only as much details as necessary to transmit the theme. Perhaps it’s remarkable; both the person, the situation, and the application of the protocol I applied, just happened to be fortunate synchronicity.
