Non-Human Intelligence All Around Us
The problem with the language change from alien to ‘non-human entities’ is it’s obvious there is non-human intelligence. It’s everywhere.
Once again, I am bringing you an octopus story. This one is brought to you by Nature. The program, PBS’s nature, not the thing that defines all living and non living systems. Gaia? Can you have a living system without a non-living system? Non-organic means no carbon? ‘Organic’ on groceries may have muddied language. What living thing isn’t organic? Even if someone tweaks a genome or two, it’s still organic. And nature, not just humans, tweak genomes all the time. Focusing on the big picture, though, is that scientists and academics accuse non academics and non scientists of anthropomorphizing. Can altruism exist without intelligence? Can it exist without sentience? Can being stealthy, or using camouflage, natural and or shackled together with pieces from the environment?
