There are some things in our world that just bear re-examining. Yes, we’re told there is nothing in the closet, no monsters under the bed. But that insight came in my life by parents who didn’t know gravity waves exist! It was also evidence of their exhaustion of me waking the entire household screaming. Even children wear out their cuteness. Human sensitivities have a specified range. Our tools magnify that, giving us access to fields of view that are in and just outside our range. Does that greater limit define all that is, or just all that is at our disposal due to our handicaps?
Before there was Star Trek, before Oliva Newton John amused us with Xanadu, there was Richard Tambling speaking about teleportation as a form of intergalactic travel. You can find it below. He suggested, quite literally, UFOs become energy and move from one place to the other in a manner similar to how Star Trek moved people from ship to surface almost instantaneously.
‘Almost’ meaning, for the sake of the audience, a dancing of lights allowed us to envision transporting. It’s the stuff of legends, monks are known to be capable of teleporting, or bilocating- being in two places at once.
