On Being Divorced, Dating, and Climate Change

Let’s start with this. I don’t always think right. If you have read any of my work here, you will see evidence for that. Take my grammar for starters. My grammar sucks. Just imagine all those thoughts running around in my head, missing letters, and not rolling right, or sticking to the wrong chain. You get paradoxes, and puns, and phrases that just don’t make any sense. It’s hard being a guy that doesn’t think right. It’s hard being John!

Sitting on the Dock of the Bay

So, now that the hard part is out there, we can deal with this. I over analyze. I think about stuff in a myriad of ways. My undergrad is in sociology. My masters is in counseling. I bounce between those two frameworks for understanding the world. There is definitely a social a world and it has influences on individuals. That is truth. That truth doesn’t lessen the responsibility I hold as an adult to navigate the world in a sophisticated, emotionally and intellectually responsible way.

In essence, I am responsible for my life and it’s outcomes. That’s it. No one else is to blame. You don’t have to be parrot head to get this:

Wastin’ away again in Margaritaville
That’s where this ship is headed
Searchin’ for my lost shaker of salt
Salt, salt, salt
Some people claim that there’s a woman to blame
But I know it’s my own damn fault
