Peanut the Squirrel, Beloved
Peanut the squirrel and Fred the raccoon had as much chance to get rabies as NASA has of getting back to the moon without Elon’s help.
If you didn’t know, my spirit animal is the Squirrel. If you don’t see this essay as a rant, let me warn you. The state overstepped its bounds in this issue. This story does not have a good ending, like the one based on a real life event, Fly Away Home, where a young lady raised geese, learned to fly an ultralight, and flew those birds south for the winter from Canada. Humanity is destined to live in harmony with nature, but there are folks determined to kill us and nature. This has got to stop. Would you defend Peanut’s and Fred’s right to life?
Seriously, I am emoting. Granted, I understand why the state, and folks in general, should not be taking nature home. Sometimes, it happens. We humans care about nature. Most people, most of the time, will not walk away from a person or animal that is injured or at risk of death.
This is one of the most noble attributes of human beings.
