Phillip Krapf on UFOs: It’s Aliens

Pulitzer Prize winning journalist and one time, verified skeptic says it’s aliens in his 1998 book, The Contact Has Begun.

There are book reports, and then there are some book reports! Since my bias, and strong devotion to a particular brand of science fiction is so strong, Star Trek, I am inclined to simply make this a compare and contrast story. Krapf probably won’t be too offended, as he himself mentions Star Trek in the first chapter. Shall we lead with a mission statement to go where no journalist has gone before?

Let’s start with the obvious. It’s aliens and they’ve known about us for a moment. This book states they have been here watching us for a thousand years. They have a guiding principle of minimizing interference with indigenous life, which does seem to resemble the Prime Directive so elegantly displayed and deliberated in Star Trek.

Have you ever considered how lofty some of the writing for the original Star Trek was, weighted in Constitutional thinking? Was that a unique time in history, or were the founding principles of this country simply so important that the visionaries of a future utopian society subscribed to the ideals that would most support that future people?
