Consciousness is Primary

Planets Evolving into Conscious Entities

The idea of planets being conscious is not new to me. This idea has been in my metaphysical box, necessitating consciousness being a primary function of the Universe, not an emergent, secondary, random and accidental force of nature. Yes, I have a metaphysical box. I have a materialistic, science box, too. I have quite a few boxes, actually. I think science exists in more than one box, as well as in between boxes, but I also recognize some ideas are predominantly excluded from sharing boxing by assuming a majority of folks would likely vote an idea out of a box. I sort Lego pieces, too; can ideas be Lego pieces, they can all go together? Anyway, every now and then, and seemingly more so than in the past, something surprising happens- some scientist will write a paper proposing a theory like ‘planets can evolve consciousness,’ shattering the walls of all my boxes.

The Earth Is Just as Alive as You Are

When I last wrote on this idea, I didn’t include some of the ideas from science, such as the Gaia hypothesis.

The Gaia hypothesis proposed by James Lovelock (1972) suggests that living organisms on the planet interact with their surrounding inorganic environment to form a synergetic and self-regulating system that created, and now maintains, the climate and biochemical conditions that make life on Earth possible.
