Moral Ambiguity

R- on a Train, While Being Watched

There are things I don’t understand. Interestingly, these things tend to preoccupy my mind, and I wonder- am I being judgmental? Am I missing something? How do normal people think about these things? Like, there are some serious, baffling, horrific things to really think about and process. It may be that I am inclined due to the nature of my history or my work, a woman Rpd on a train while people watch… I am baffled. I am horrified. No seriously, it’s worse than I can express- they didn’t just do nothing or look away, there is evidence they used their cellphones to record it.

Mind you, I struggle to think right. I have an opinion about this event. I am distant from this event in proximity and time. At this point, it’s just a report on a screen by talking heads- and yet, I am provoked. Are we immune because of the level of violence we are fed? Am I guilty by association for supporting films that have violence?

I am baffled by Hollywood, who are very clearly anti-guns and NRA, and yet- people die on a set because they’re playing with guns. Why was there a live round on a movie set? Fuck, even if there wasn’t a live round on the set, don’t they know gun etiquette? You never point a gun at someone. Never. Unless you intend to kill them.
