Anyone can predict doom and gloom. It is so easy to predict pessimism, that if you’re predicting bad things, you’re probably taking the easy, safe bets. We get old. Things don’t work as well as they used to. Our human brain is built for pessimism and looking for flaws or oddities, and necessarily so- as noting a bit of orange lurking in green might have made a difference in not getting eaten by a tiger.
