UFO/UAP
I suppose I can’t think of anything scarier than being in charge of a weapon and losing control over said weapon. Imagine being on duty at a nuclear silo, and it’s your job to maintain the integrity of systems and operations. A UFO hovers over you and activates those system, giving the all clear’ for launch, activating the countdown. You can’t turn it off. You can’t unplug it. You might say to yourself, this is a nightmare. This can’t happen.
It happened. More than once.
There is enough reasons to be scared about nuclear war. The number one reason is humanity. We don’t think right often enough to short circuit some of our our shadows. The fact that nuclear weapons exist at all, the sheer number of them, the fact we sit on them and threaten others, ‘my way or the highway,’ ‘well if you shoot me I’ll shoot you back,’ or, ‘we only have them for self defense,’ we as a collective don’t think right.
When has might makes right not left someone fantasizing on how to take over?
Imagine living with a spouse or partner who held that kind of power over you. “If I can’t have you, no one will.” “If you leave, I will kill you, me, and the kids.” We’d call that person a psycho, wouldn’t we? Hopefully get them medical help. How long have we lived under the threat of nuclear war?
