In a small brief, hardly an article, probably not worth quoting, Victor Tangermann, quotes scientists: SCIENTISTS WORRIED HUMANKIND WILL DESCEND INTO CHAOS AFTER DISCOVERING ALIEN SIGNAL. It says things like, humans are “woefully unprepared for contact.” Umm, maybe scientists should get some counseling, because this sounds a lot like the psychological term ‘projection.’ I think scientist may be woefully unprepared for the fact the authority of the chairs they hold have a termination date, meaning their reign ends with First Contact.
Scientists say people will panic, but aren’t scientist people? Will they panic? ‘No. You can trust me. I am a scientist.’ Scientists say everybody lies. Which means, scientists lie?
Scientist have been saying there are no aliens for so long, if any scientist suddenly announced they have a signal, people are going to laugh at them and probably tell them, “Come back when you have a real photo, or they land on the White House Lawn.” And most those people, will be the other scientists! Seriously, what goes around comes around, and scientist have been giving people hell for 75 plus years on the subject of UFOs and aliens.
Social science may actually fair better in post contact world, because people are going to want to understand the sociology and psychology of aliens. Knowing…
