Shared Death Experiences

Sometimes it’s not just the dying who have a near death experiences, but the also the people around them.

There was a time when most people in our culture hadn’t heard of Near Death Experiences. It seems amazing that it was only 1975 in which the term NDEs was introduce to our culture by Doctor Raymond Moody. He, and others, such as Doctor Jeffery Mishlove who won the Bigelow NDE Essay contest, also refers to Shared Death Experiences, which is a little less known. The SDE suggests there is something more to this phenomenon than oxygen deprivation. You might at least hope the doctor trying to save a person wasn’t oxygen deprived.

It is important to remember there was a time when people did not have a term for Near and Shared death experiences. Oh, they had them. That much seems certain, as people have been writing about such experiences for as long as there has been writing. One might assume, most ideas of spirituality has come from the tidbits the NDEs and SDEs have brought back.

There was time before Moody wrote his book where people shared incredible ghost stories. Some made it to television. A Twilight Zone like show, called One Step Beyond, pushed the boundaries of television by sharing true stories of the inexplicable.
