Alright, I said it. Season 3, episode 1, held my interest. Unfortunately, it failed to hold me, and all my grievances from the previous two episodes returned as I watched this thing I love, TREK, being destroyed. It’s not the actors. Actors are paid to do a job, and they read the scripts and do what they’re told. The writing sucked. There is so much wrong with Discovery, I doubt even this rant, this attempt to make a reasonable critique will hardly be a high light.
Most people are reasonable. Most people would never trash the military, veterans, fire fighters, astronauts, or heroes. These people tend to be healthy- like fit, intelligent, and emotionally sound. There isn’t one person on Discovery that’s fit to be in Star Fleet, much less any lesser organization of military or paramilitary rank. Michael Burnham mutinied. In no circumstances would she be allowed to serve again- even if she was 100 percent justified in her assessment and consequential action. Silvia Tilly was emotionally and physically unfit. Michelle Yeoh played two characters, the good captain that was killed off, and the evil empress who replaces her. The writers have clearly made their stand, good is bad, and bad is good. It seems like our entire society is now based on this theme, and it’s okay for a ship of fools to be saving the universe, exercising their own judgement over common sense.
