Star Trek, Law, and Justice

One of the greatest legal aspects I learned from watching Star Trek came from A TNG episode, first season. Over all, it wasn’t a great episode, but when Picard espoused, “There can be no justice as long as laws are absolute.” That stood out, even considering the triteness of the episode, as gold. I later went on to discover a college level course at UNT, “Star Trek: Visions of Law and Justice,” and the academic book of the same, written by Doctor Bradly Chilton. He and I became friends, and I was afforded the opportunity to help assist in teaching other classes.
