Star Trek had such a huge impact on my life. I was that kid that got beat up for wanting to be Spock, Vulcan hand salute and everything.

I keep forgetting that the people that truly understand Trek- we're still kind of fringe. Mind you, fringe like, an entire sliver of every nation on Earth- WE GET TREK. Governments, don't seem to get it, or we would find better ways to deescalate. Billionaires don't get it, or there would be one less Ferrari in space! And I like Musk; so if it takes him to get us into Space, I get it, but if we don't adopt a philosophy for space, such as presented in Star Trek, well, I don't that that's evolution.

Maybe if we had a Prime Directive for ideal ways to interact with others, it would be less about billionaires advancing the human race, but the human race simply evolving because everyone is participating in this thing we call life.

and so, it took Shatner's foray into space for him to realize the implications of that very thing I realized, all of us Trek fans realized, vicariously through him before he had the real epiphany- OHMYGOD, it's so precious! As Kirk, no one would have interrupted a Kirk speech to open a bottle of alcohol... Oh, sorry, Captain, please continue...
