The Convoluted UFO Story

It’s fun reading UFO articles. Headlines like, UFO Sightings Are Real, but Aliens Are Not Responsible, by Nancy Huang is a nice article. It offers a quick, cursory glance into UFO history. But her first paragraph feels buggy to me, seemingly contradicting of her assertion “it’s not aliens.”

The Buddhist Temple of Wat Phra Dhammakaya

“The U.S. government recently confirmed reports by military pilots of unidentified aerial phenomena (UAP), which are more commonly called unidentified flying objects (UFOs).” Okay, we’re all on the same page, right? UFOs, now UAPs, they are real. “The government also acknowledged the need to better understand UAP for the purpose of pilot safety and national security.” A day late and dollar short, but yeah, how many people have been saying that and for how long? “There was no mention of aliens from other planets visiting Earth, but the possibility was not ruled out.” Wait a minute. You just said it definitely isn’t aliens, but if you can’t rule them out, doesn’t that mean you can’t say ‘aliens aren’t responsible?’

Oh?! Did you mean we can’t hold aliens accountable for reckless flying because they’re just not responsible beings?

Huang goes on to finish that paragraph with, “For decades, the U.S. government has denied the existence of UFOs, making this a major step…” A major step towards what? More…
