When you think of Top Gun, you probably go straight to Tom Cruise memes. I go there, too. I also go there, and to Navy, Star Trek, and father. My father served 22 years in the Navy. Two of the ships he served on was the Saratoga and the Enterprise. He was on the Enterprise when Star Trek IV visited. I can’t touch this story without bias, nostalgia blowing up my history. Watching David Fravor interviews provokes memories of my father, as their mannerisms and appearance are similar. Those damn glasses! And now, all of this is intricately and forever tied to UFOs.

Navy pilot recalls encounter with UFO: ‘I think it was not from this world’

This UFO story didn’t just fall into your lap in 2017. It was years in the making. As it unfolded, it gained momentum. Many humans got involved and as with any human endeavor, rumors, exaggerations, new versions with each iteration began to emerge. That part does call for a slow roll, in the sense we need to check in with sources, examine the artifacts as presented, and watch for change.

The story hasn’t changed. Fravor’s report definitely hasn’t. In the Fravor TicTac encounter, four sets of human eyes were on the object. They’ve been very clear in their statements, it was not ours. Now had we the luxury of having had access to Fravor directly after the encounter, he supposes he…
