The Inevitability of World Peace

Perhaps this is conjecture, but the extreme philosophical position is either humanity goes extinct, or we mature into a peaceful species. Peace isn’t just preferable, it’s inevitable.

If we assume that all systems improve over time, then all human endeavors must necessarily lead to peace. Sure, we’ve also improved our ability to kill and control. That’s self-evident. We have the ability to destroy our planet several times over and yet have remained emotionally primitive to the point that from outside looking in, we’re only slightly better than those cave dwellers who don’t understand the implications of fire beyond heat. As medical technology improves, longevity increases. The longer the individual humans live, the more conservative they will be to protect their future environment. Increasing health and lifespan is just one converging contributor that will lead us to peace. Let’s explore peace together.

Peace is not some abstract, Hippy pipe dream. We see the emergence of it today, as more and more youth are declining military service. That’s not just a US trend, that’s most First World nations experience. This phenomenon is more than just people not wanting to fight or kill. Most people…
