The Joy of Seeing Others Experience Joy

I just stumbled upon an older video, from 2019, about a fan of Lost and Space who made a reaction video to the trailer. It got seen, picked up, and resulted in the cast and crew, complements of Netflix, treating her to brilliant time in DC. I was actually tearful. Like, genuine tears. Yes, yes, I am old, and I am getting more and more sentimental all the damn time. I am not sure why this moved me so much. Was it because of seeing her emote? Was it because the genuine niceness of the stars interacting with her? See, Parker Posey is just acting! She really isn’t bad. Was it because I have fantasized that I might visit the set of a television show? Yeah, there’s some truth there.

An Australian fan of Lost In Space named Gracie had no idea what she was in for when Netflix invited her to Washington D.C. to participate in a documentary about “superfans.” This turned out to be a lie (in the best way possible).

I am too old to be doing stuff like that. Not the reaction videos, but being a guest. That’s really something that should be done for young folks. Besides, I would probably be all grumpy, lamenting, “I miss the original robot…” Would I kill to get on the set, either as a day as crew or being an extra? Yeah, yeah I would. With caveats. As long as it’s me killing Dr. Smith. (Insert dream sequence…
