You Blinded Me with Moonlight
There are those more knowledgeable about science than I who may be surprised that a person, like me- who will admit to believing in aliens and an afterlife- will say the moon doesn’t affect your behavior. New moon or full moon, the entire moon is still there! The gravity exerted by the mass of the doctor who delivered you likely had greater influence on you than Jupiter aligned. I have worked in mental health and in hospitals, and when any staff, Doctor or nurse, echoed it must be a full moon, I would point out the scientific literature saying ‘that is a myth…’ They didn’t even know if there was or wasn’t a full moon, but they would say that and I would say, no it’s a waxing quarter… I even have an app for that now! Well, I guess if the government can say UFOs are real, science can now say the moon actually affects your behavior!
Was I wrong? Was science wrong? Do we owe apologies to those folks that believed moon affects us when we dismissed that and said, ‘that’s not science?’ Maybe you’re saying, ‘John, my friend, clearly the moon causes tides, how can it not affect you?’ Well, one the tides are not so straight forwards, like the moon lifting it up. You’re not lighter on a full moon; you don’t jump higher on a full moon. Two, you don’t have tides in your coffee and tea or swimming pools. You…
