Alternative Medicine
Acupuncture works. The evidence for it working is greater than chance, greater than placebo affect. It doesn’t work for everyone. Modern medicine works, greater than chance, more than placebo- that’s the standard. There are always exceptions. For example, acupuncture doesn’t work on me, to the astonishment of the Doctors that have tried and resulted in rashes and irritation- me being incredibly irritated. Also, there have been pharmaceutical remedies that did not work, and my PCP got mad at me as if it were my fault!
Hypothetically, let’s say acupuncture works. Whether you believe or not, just go with this thought experiment. Does that mean if you have ear rings, nose rings, gauges, or any other body piercing- that you are either activating or or inactivating a fundamental energy node? I am not against piercing, or arguing for none, or telling anyone what to do. It’s just a curious question; if acupuncture works, what are we unconsciously turning on or off?
Intuitively self medicating may actually be a thing. What does my preference for pizza and salty chips and salsa translate into?
Do tattoos work in the same way? I am not against tattoos, either. I don’t have one, mostly because I don’t like pain. But I have decided, if they have gold paint, I am getting a Star Trek communicator pinned to my forearm…
