One of the provider’s at work shared with me that they’ve lost another friend, after a series of losses. We share a colleague who I start my mornings with, just talking. This quickly became one of those ‘close the door,’ impromptu sessions where my other friend and I did what we do best, listen. I suspect people think professionals are immune to the toll death takes upon us. PTSD isn’t just for soldiers. During a crisis, you’re in survival mode. PTSD is POST crisis. We’re all just one crisis away from losing it, and this generation seems like it’s poised. 2020 was a crisis we haven’t even addressed socially. Is getting back to normal killing us?

I lament that my son hasn’t had the childhood I wanted for him. He worries too much about politics, economics, and he certainly didn’t have the free roaming experience I did in childhood. Things are different. Some better, some maybe less so. He also worries that I am going to die. He worries about everything.

We are all bumping up into how different life is. Tiktok videos of this generation hitting the job market almost to a one are asking why they can’t make it economically, when in the past a father’s income was enough for a…
