There has always been tragedies. There is likely always been preventable tragedies. There are also accidents. I just don't understand this one, my friend. I would like a societal explanation and response. Individuals can't be super, on point all the time. All humans are falible. One time my ex put the hair curler down in reach of son. He picked it up. He was injurred. That mistake never happened again. I didn't get mad or chastise her. She did enough of that on her own.
But the car thing... I dont know. Kids have crawled into cars and gotten stuck. Kids have played hide and seek in refrigerators and died. But this, we lock kids in in car seats that they can't get out of. We have child locks on cars, they can't get out of. Its hot enough in the car I wouldn't sit in it without the air on... I wouldn't turn the car off and leave my little person in something I wouldn't tolerate...
OMG, my friend, this is the sort of thing that just blows up my head and I don't think well. I still can't touch it without emoting. But, in the next couple hours I will have another soul in front of me suffering, and I will put this away, focus on the person needing to be heard to the best of my ability- and I will go on. I will forget this, too.
Maybe that's why it keeps happening? We forget we are mortal and fallible, and we lie to ourselves- "I can do anything." But we can't. Humans are limited by definition, and we need others, teams..
