I doubt a curious professor will read my works and invite me for tea to entertain some of my life questions about science. I do miss having those sort of conversations with professors over the course of many semesters. Have you heard of ‘6th degrees of Kevin Bacon?’ One of you knows someone who knows someone who knows Kevin. You could ask him, or someone I admire, to join in on this chain. Doctor Avi Loeb writes on Medium, and that feels like one degree of separation, except he isn’t likely to respond to comments or call me up for a chat. If you could ask anyone anything, what would you ask?
Some of the things I share in this will be by memory, without sources. Like, did you know if we could see Jupiter’s magnetosphere, we would see it as the same size as the moon. I like things like that. Take a billion dollars. I really have no clue what that is, but today I heard someone say, well, if a billion dollars was a billion seconds, that’s about 31 years. The average life span is just a little over 2 billion seconds. A trillion seconds would be 31,000 years. Now, how many trillions of dollars did our government spin, and do…
