UFOs and USPs… Ultra Secret Programs

The truth is out there, but trust no one. Why is humanity’s aspiration for space filled with Game of Throne level mystique and threat?

Truth just is. Trust is scarce. Truth is everywhere and for everyone, but even it is illusive, not just because of agencies, but because individual perspective comes with a bias that results in brains doing bad math. That’s a known thing, and yet- it’s also not completely fair. If you made it to age 50 on this planet, you can reasonably argue you know enough truth not to get squashed. Doctor Donald Hoffman, University of California-Irvine, argues biological entities are not designed to exploit truth. He ran simulations; the more truth oriented the ‘species,’ the quicker they became extinct. Do we need a shadow to help us rise?

Hypothetically, if we allow this to be a game- wouldn’t it make sense that there would be necessary drama built into it? Can you name one fiction that doesn’t have an adversary? The antagonist is necessary for the protagonist to level up. The enemy doesn’t have to be a person, or even an archetype. It could be nature. It could be life. The villain could be the protagonist himself!
