We are being educated. We know what to do, but we are told on every video to do it anyway. It’s called hypnotic repetition. If I say ‘sleep’ enough, your eyes will close. You will go to automatic pilot, I will remain in charge. Go ahead, click 50 times on me if you like, but I don’t think I need to remind anyone in every video and every essay… I mean, seriously, if I just do something reasonable, you’ll throw a wooden nickel into the hat, right? Or will you click regardless of merit because I exist? Because you’ve been trained? UFOs are here, they are real, and we’re being trained. Are we mice or men?
The digital landscapes is defined in binary. You either like it or you don’t. It is not sophisticatedly nuanced to recognize the complexity of who we are. If you’re old school, it’s not even analog. Medium is the only site I know that allows 50 applause clicks. I suspect the people clapping once just don’t realize that they could stand up and give ovations.
