UFOs in the News

A report from Russia had a sighting of a UFO over a nuclear power plant, near St Petersburg. At 10,000 meters and clocked in at at 200 KMH, it probably wasn’t over the power plant very long. Long enough to trigger an alert which had a military spokesperson speaking to a news agency. I am wondering, why speak to the public interface at all? Did civilians know before the government? Were pesky people asking questions?

Or is there another game at play?

Foreign news is often strange. Russian news seems straight forwards in some ways, perhaps not as strange as dialogue from a Japanese movie. I am often left wondering about translations especially from some of the older monster movies where children are referred to as ‘boy’ or ‘girl’ without the use of their names, almost as if they were objects.

“The boy said what?” Well, the boy is right there, why not ask him directly? Look, just like this: “Toby, where did you find this turtle? What did you feed him? Go to your room, young man!” See, that’s not too hard. Those Goonies kids, always in trouble.

Someone must have asked about the UFO. Reserve colonel Andrey Koshkin responds: “nothing unusual here, this is a regular situation.”

Me: ‘Seriously? UFOs are buzzing our nuclear power plants all the time?’ (No verbal response…
