The Good Trouble Show explores the impact of mental health on experiencers. It’s the thing most forget to discuss.
There is a myth that humanity will crash if the world knows it’s aliens. Given the number of people experiencing, if that were true there would be a bigger mental health crisis than we see. There is this other myth that people that report seeing UFOs and aliens are all crazy. Most are reasonably functioning, and likely quite adapt in one or two domains, likely unappreciated genius in their fields. What makes people ‘crazy’ is being isolated, excommunicated, ridiculed, marginalized, dismissed, and threatened. We all know this and yet we continue to trod on people that don’t align with us. Are aliens or society that give humans PTSD?
Why no one considers the mental aspect to me is sort of weird. Why wouldn’t it? Then again, I have multiple reasons for explaining why. In general, society ignores mental health problems. Most people don’t want to address mental health until behaviors are so problematic that someone is at risk of hurting themselves or others, or they’re so dysfunctional the whole family is being disrupted.
