College or Work
I worked for an Airlines for 24 years. I was generally unhappy. It was monotonous. It paid well. It gave me benefits, health insurance, and flight benefits. I have visited many countries. Working for the airline also enable me to keep plugging away at school. I am not the traditional student. Universities want you done in four years, and that can be done- but that also limits human discovery. I started at the University of San Antonio, with a small music scholarship, pursuing Music Education, Majoring in voice, minoring in piano. I quickly realized, this was not my path, and surrendered the scholarship.
I switched majors to astronomy. I loved astronomy- still do. I especially loved the lab- I could operate every telescope, and was teaching set up within the first week of class. Whether it’s my ADHD, not diagnosed till 2021, or I just have so many interest it was hard to narrow me down- I jumped again. I considered psychology. Everyone who takes a psychology 101 thinks that. I dropped out and completed a vocational school, aviation maintenance, and found employment as an apprentice at DynAir Tech, Phoenix. I am great with book work, but it was quickly discovered I suck ass at hands on fixing things and was laid off. I was in my 20s, and looking back I wouldn’t have hired me, but then, I knew I was struggling with mental health.
